About

Our Story

St. Margaret’s Bay Pride began in 2025 with a small group of friends brainstorming ways to build more queer community and address rising hate locally and abroad. From there it grew into a group of over 15 community members, who organized the first annual Pride festival in St. Margaret’s Bay.

Today, we are a volunteer-based community organization working year-round to make St. Margaret’s Bay a more welcoming and inclusive place to live, work, and play.

Our Work

  • Host the annual Bay Pride festival in July

  • Increase 2SLGBTQIA+ visibility by distributing FREE “You are welcome here” stickers to public-facing shops and services

  • Organize community building events year-round to connect strengthen the local 2SLGBTQIA+ community

  • Coordinate education and training opportunities to increase 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion

Our Structure

We are a volunteer-based organization with a loose structure. Each year, we assemble a core team and group of volunteers to organize the Pride festival. We welcome any 2SLGBTQIA+ individual or ally living or working in St. Margaret’s Bay to join us!

We are not incorporated and do not have a Board of Directors. Our operations are managed by our fiscal sponsor, the Rural Communities Foundation of Nova Scotia, a registered charity and public foundation.

Our Supporters

We are immensely grateful to collaborate with many community partners and local businesses to host the annual Pride festival. Please see the Festival page to view our festival partners and sponsors.
